The Coffee Table

Let's start with this table. About 2 months before we got married, Mark & I were on a walk around his parents' neighborhood and we saw a perfectly good coffee table at the edge of someone's driveway with a FREE sign on it. Well, we were only a few blocks away, so we took turns carrying the thing back to the Houx's. I should mention that the legs and borders of this table were painted brown. Not stained, no, acrylic paint. That is so 90's! So, we needed to stain it. We started, back in August of 2008, to make this table ours. For reasons beyond my control, the table moved with us to Ohio in 9+ pieces. It stayed in our garage over winter and the borders, made of particle board, soaked up the puddles of water our sweet garage very generously offered. Fine. I didn't want it for summer time anyway... Then I started to Make it Happen! One night after we were house hunting this past month, I mentioned to Mark that I would rather not move with a 9-piece table again. Some pinewood, edging material, about 6 coats of Walnut Satin Finish Polystain, and lots of glue-filled nights later, we've got a coffee table!! It's only been a year. Oh dear.
